point, click, and go; thumb-texting.

<img style="background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today unveiled two products that make it easier than ever to connect Ethernet-enabled gaming and home theater devices to your home network. For consumers who want simple plug-and-play networking for a single device, such as a TV or a game console, NETGEAR’s new Powerline Nano 500 (XAVB5101) instantly converts a standard electrical wall outlet into a high-speed network connection that easily accommodates the most demanding multimedia tasks. For consumers who want to connect multiple devices in a room – including TVs, a network disk, media players, game consoles, PCs and other Ethernet-enabled devices – NETGEAR’s new N900 Video and Gaming 4-Port WiFi Adapter (WNCE4004) is the perfect device that can simultaneously connect up to four wired devices to your WiFi router at top speed.

Powerline 500 Nano

With best-in-class performance and reliability, NETGEAR’s Powerline 500 Nano converts any electrical outlet in your house into a high speed network connection, instantly. It offers easy, plug-and-play setup and top speeds, all in the smallest form factor available today. The Powerline 500 Nano is perfect for connecting a single device such as game console, Blu-ray™ player, Smart TV, HD set-top box, network DVR, PC, and other devices to the home network router and the Internet. Gamers particularly benefit from Powerline technology because of its exceptionally low latency.

NETGEAR’s Powerline 500 Nano delivers speeds up to 500 Mbps, which easily accommodates HD and 3D HD video streaming, multimedia, multiplayer gaming and other bandwidth intensive tasks. With NETGEAR’s unique “Pick-a-Plug” function, the Powerline 500 Nano automatically tests the connection at any electrical outlet and displays the results in the form of color coded LED lights to ensure that users can pick a specific electrical outlet in order to ensure the highest possible performance.

N900 Video and Gaming 4-port WiFi Adapter

Streaming HD content to Ethernet-enabled devices in your living room can be difficult or even impossible because a wired connection is often unavailable or impractical to install. NETGEAR’s N900 Video and Gaming 4-port WiFi Adapter enables consumers to connect up to four Ethernet-enabled devices at the fastest WiFi speeds available today. The adapter utilizes multiple wireless streams and dual-band technology to support multiple, simultaneous HD video streams in 1080p resolution and fast, low-latency multiplayer gaming. Other apps will greatly enhance personal productivity tasks, such as enabling simple print sharing and cloud printing capabilities for tablets or sharing pictures and home videos with friends and family on social networks without having to upload any files to public web sites.

Smart Network Apps can be developed by anyone, from an independent programmer to a game developer, home appliance company, major utility company and more. For example, an independent programmer can develop a simple data usage meter app that alerts consumers when they near their data cap. Utility companies can provide applications that allow users to more closely monitor, and even lower, their energy usage. Game developers can provide network optimizers that ensure higher network priorities for their particular high-bandwidth game. Internet service providers could even create applications that allow simple sharing of user-generated content without the need to upload any content files to public web sites.

“NETGEAR’s Smart Network Cloud Application Platform opens up a whole new world of possibilities for consumers everywhere. For the first time, consumers can use our dashboard to create a customized network experience that caters to their needs and desires,” said Cedar Milazzo, Senior Director of Engineering. “Today’s smart devices are only as smart as the networks they are connected to. Over the years, mobile phones have evolved into smartphones, and televisions have evolved into Smart TVs. Now NETGEAR is driving the evolution from home networks to Smart Networks. NETGEAR Smart Network will allow consumers to use innovative new applications to harness the power of all of their network devices and use those devices in new ways that meet customers’ needs and that enable accessibility from anywhere.”

AppManager for Increased Control

NETGEAR’s AppManager is a dashboard that enables consumers to select and use downloadable apps from a convenient cloud operated by NETGEAR. The AppManager dashboard offers a variety of apps built by NETGEAR as well as third party vendors, with more apps being added all the time. Users can interact with the apps directly from the dashboard, giving them a simple overview of their connected devices. From the NETGEAR Smart Network Application Cloud, consumers can easily download and install new apps to fit their needs.

Developers to Join the Revolution

NETGEAR is opening its Smart Network platform to developers to create apps that let consumers customize their network to their lifestyle. Enabled through NETGEAR’s latest routers, media players, storage solutions and other devices, the Smart Network software develop kit (SDK) provides a technology agnostic XML API to interact with network devices and other applications on the Smart Network. As the home networking market leader, NETGEAR is also the broadest deployed platform shipping tens of millions of routers and gateways every year. NETGEAR is now accepting applications from developers to become a part of the Smart Network developer’s community Early Access Program. Relying on the 5GHz wireless spectrum, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit does not require a line-of-sight placement, and delivers uncompressed full 1080p, 3D content and 5.1 digital audio up to 100 feet.

The IOGEAR Wireless 3D Digital Kit consists of a transmitter and receiver with connections that allow it to stream standard, HD or 3D resolution content from up to two HDMI® enabled devices. Included with the kit are an IR blast cable, a remote control, and two power adapters. To add a second room, one HDTV can connect directly to the transmitter’s loop-through (local) port, while a second HDTV simultaneously receives content via the wireless receiver. A “Floating HDTV” can be set up by connecting two HD or 3D media sources to the wireless transmitter while a wall-mounted TV receives content from the connected wireless receiver.

The Wireless 3D Digital Kit is housed in a sleek black casing with rounded edges, giving it a modern but understated appearance. The unobtrusive transmitter, receiver, IR blast cable and remote control underscore just what a powerful device the Wireless 3D Digital Kit really is. Streaming high-bandwidth 3D and 1080p content up to 100 feet is made possible by the use of 5GHz technology, which is generally less susceptible to network interference and can carry more data than its 2.4 GHz relative.

By supporting devices such as 3D Blu-ray and DVD players, DVR/set-top boxes and game consoles, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit allows users to keep their components neatly out-of-sight and keep the focus on their celebrated HD or 3D TVs. Perfect as a DIY retrofit solution, the built-in Infrared (IR) pass-though allows user control over source devices that are hidden away in a different location. Additionally, the GW3DHDKIT is HDCP 2.0 Compliant and requires no software or driver installation.

“Our Wireless 3D Digital Kit advances the technology of streaming A/V content and is a perfect fit for those who already have a 3D display or are planning to get one,” said Bill Nguyen, Senior Marketing Manager for IOGEAR. “The GW3DHDKIT offers an easy, affordable way to stream both HD and 3D entertainment discretely with multiple retrofit and installation options.”

For its initial launch, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit will be available online at Costco.com. A nationwide roll-out that includes shopIOGEAR.com, brick and mortar retailers and online resellers will happen in later in Q4 2011. MSRP of the Wireless 3D Digital Kit is $349.95.
