One of the hottest products at this year’s IFA is the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which was unveiled today at the Korean giant’s press conference. Whilst some commentators are seeing the device as a competitor to Apple’s iPad, in reality the 7” touchscreen Android device is more a competitor to the Dell Streak. At IFA today in Berlin, Sonos announced a partnership with Spotify to bring the service provider’s 8 million music tracks to the Sonos Multi-Room Music System. A free software update, available later this month, will allow Sonos owners in in Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK to access the entire Spotify catalogue as well as their personal playlists.

Following a shock move to acquire security vendor McAfee earlier this month, Intel today announced an altogether more expected move, purchasing Infineon's Wireless Solutions Business for a reported $1.4 billion in cash. The acquision, heavily rumoured over the weekend, enhances Intel’s presence in the booming mobile device market, adding 3G capabilities to the company’s existing Wi-Fi and 4G WiMAX offerings across smartphones, tablets, netbooks, notebooks and embedded computing devices.

Tranquil PC today released a critical update for their SQA-5H Home Server and SQA-EX Expansion Enclosure. The update consists of a BIOS upgrade for the server’s SATA Controller, which according to the company fixes a serious issue whereby hard drives can become disconnected from the server, causing potential data loss. It is recommended that all SQA-5H owners install the update as a precaution.
