NETGEAR Arlo Pro Smart Home Security System Incoming

A new listing this morning at indicates the arrival of an updated NETGEAR Arlo Smart Home Security System.

The new Arlo Pro Outdoor Wireless Surveillance System includes a larger base station with a built in siren, while the camera itself includes minor design tweaks.

However, the specifications include the same weatherproof design, 130 degree field of vision, 25′ night vision, HD resolution (I’m assuming 720p) and wall mount.

Update: CNET has confirmed the Arlo Pro, which will also include:

  • A rechargeable battery
  • A microUSB charging port
  • A microphone and a speaker
  • A new base station with a built-in siren and two USB ports
  • New accessories, including a solar charging station and various stands
  • A digital infrared motion sensor (the original Arlo has an analog motion sensor)

A NETGEAR Arlo Pro single camera kit (model VMS4130-100NAS) is available to pre-order today priced at $249.99

this is wegotserved. Is there any way to get the output to ones’ server? I see there are two new USB ports as well as the connection. Using the USB as local storage say by tethering a 3.5″ hdd would seem less than optimal since the siren is going to alert a burgler to the location of the base station which would be presumably smashed or ripped out in a lot of situations. Presumable the attached hdd would go with it.

    • We didn’t get any information directly from Netgear on this new model – we just saw the listing go up ahead of the announcement. Since Netgear switched their US PR agency, it’s all gone a little quiet, so sorry we can’t confirm at this point.
