NETGEAR R6400 AC1750 Smart WiFi Router Boosts Networking Range

NETGEAR this morning announced details of a brand new router that will be hitting shelves this week. The NETGEAR R6400 AC1750 Smart WiFi Router includes a new design that boosts networking range performance by up to 80 percent over the previous-generation NETGEAR AC1750 Smart WiFi Router, the R6300.

That leap is delivered by the R6400’s high power amplifiers, three external antennas, implicit and explicit Beamforming and NETGEAR’s Airtime Fairness feature, which prevents network lag when slower devices connect.

The new R6400 boasts up to 1750 Mbps speeds (450 + 1300 Mbps across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands), four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and two USB ports, one of which is a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port offering connection speeds up to 5 Gbps. Printer connections and content on USB storage devices can be easily shared when connected to the router, courtesy of NETGEAR’s ReadySHARE feature.

An accompanying application, NETGEAR ReadySHARE Vault, takes automatic backups of incremental changes on all PCs in your home network and saves them to a connected USB hard drive. The NETGEAR R6400 is also compatible with Apple Time Machine, so you can also back up your Mac to a USB hard drive connected to the router. An included NETGEAR MyMedia feature also enables you to push stored media to Chromecast connected TVs, DLNA-ready TVs and other devices.

Like other devices in the NETGEAR stable, the R6400 AC1750 Smart WiFi Router is offered with NETGEAR genie, a network monitoring and management app that opens up a wealth of additional features. Using the app, you can easily access your home network, view a real-time network map of all connected devices check bandwidth usage, block Wi-Fi devices, set up guest Wi-Fi networks, and manage parental controls through the application’s dashboard.

The NETGEAR R6400 AC1750 Smart WiFi Router is available around the world this week, with US pricing set at $149.99.
