Freesat Launches iOS App for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Earlier in the month, we reviewed Humax’s new HB-1000S Freesat HD set top box and were impressed by the balance of great features and low price. This week, Freesat launches a free companion app for iOS devices which looks like a must have for Freesat viewers.

The free app, available from the App Store, serves as a TV Guide and remote control, allowing remote recording of programmes for those using Freesat’s Freetime service. Users can roll back through the last seven days of programming and offers recommendations of upcoming shows to watch, with the ability to set reminders to view.

Handily, the app also allows searching of on demand services including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5 and when you find a programme to view, Freetime viewers can launch the programme on their TV directly from the app, or you can choose to play on your handset when out and about.

Expect to see the Freesat app released on additional platforms in the future.
