CES 2012: D-Link’s All-in-One Mobile Companion Promises Sharing, Streaming and Power on the Move

At CES today, networking specialist D-Link announced an innovative tech solution for travellers. The DIR-505 All-in-One Mobile Companion is a device offering network connectivity, local file sharing as well as power for your devices when you’re away from home.

The compact device plugs into a power socket, and comes equipped with a USB port for powering your Smartphone or tablet. But wait! That same USB port and be used to access and synchronise content to and from that portable storage device you have with you – to any computer, Android or iOS device (via the usual free mobile apps).

Did we mention the All-in-One Mobile Companion also serves as a pocket 150 Mbps travel router? Well, it does that too. And it has an Ethernet port to boot.

Features:

  • USB Port for seamlessly viewing and synchronizing videos, music, photos, and more from a connected USB storage device to any iOS or Android tablet, smartphone or computer browser
  • Free iOS and Android apps for tablets and smartphones
  • Wireless N150 travel router
  • Ability to act as an Access Point to wirelessly extend an existing network
  • 10/100 Ethernet Port
  • Built in AC plug for easy traveling and use – no additional cables or power adapters required
  • USB Port for charging a smartphone device (when not used with a USB storage device)

The  DIR-505 All-in-One Mobile Companion ships in April for “below $75″. Or as I like to call it, $74.99. Essential for all you “mobile professionals” and travellers to check out, I’d say.
