Y-Cam Targets High Definition Security Monitoring With the Bullet HD

Regular readers may recall our review of Y-Cam’s Bullet Network Camera, which hit the web around this time last year. I loved the look of the hardware, but felt the software lacked a little grace and at the time, wondered just when the surveillance camera guys were going to move into the HD era. The answer, according to Y-Cam, is right now with the launch of the Bullet HD.

The new revision delivers the same great looks of the original camera, but makes the leap to 720P video capture at 30 frames per second, so you can view your local raggamuffin in high definition as he tries to make off with your hard-earned kit. To ease the hit on your storage, video is captured in H.264, reducing file sizes and network bandwidth.

12 LEDs are fitted for infrared night vision, and the Bullet HD also feature Power over Ethernet for easy fitting in those nooks and crannies without a nearby power socket. If you’re looking for a Wi-Fi connection, then you’re in luck as the Bullet HD supports an 802.11n high speed connection to your home or small business network. Add the usual mix of security cam features such as detection recording, alarms, two-way audio and recording to integrated microSD, NAS and home/small business server and you’ll have the burglars targeting next door instead.

Pricing is set at £395 | €474 | $671.50. We’ll be getting one in soon for review, so stay tuned.
