Dell Now Offering Small Business Server 2011 Essentials

There has always been one OEM manufacturer that had never jumped onto the WHS or Colorado family of server software bandwagon.  An announcement (see below) this morning ended that drought.

It may not be a WHS addition, but Dell announced that they would add SBS 2011 Essentials to their offerings in their PowerEdge lineup of server hardware.

Designed and priced for small businesses with up to 25 users, Dell and SBS 2011 Essentials gives your small business a comprehensive but easy-to-manage first server solution that enables effortless printer sharing, easy file sharing and storage, automated PC backup, remote access to files and applications, and the ability to utilize and manage cloud services.

My opinion: if SBS 2011 Essentials does well, then further development of WHS 2011 seems likely.  It is encouraging to see another major server hardware OEM like Dell on board.

About Jim Clark

Hello. I’m from the heartland of the U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PCs since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.
