The HP ProLiant MicroServer Now Certified For Use With WHS 2011

As reported by Terry in August, the HP ProLiant MicroServer can be purchased with Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials.  This comes with an assumption of Driver and Support Certification.

Not only has this been verified by HP, but the MicroServer is now officially Driver and Support Certified for use Windows Home Server 2011.

Per the Legend noted above: the MicroServer is “HP Supported & OS Partner Certified/Logo”.  It is nice to know that if you use WHS 2011 on a MicroServer, you will be able to obtain support from HP with this combination.

About Jim Clark

Hello. I’m from the heartland of the U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PCs since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.

I just bought one of these!  It is a great little box, very low power.  Idles around 15 watts with 1 HD.  I ditched WHS and started a ZFS box.  It was a lot of work, but it’s very stable.

Kind of ironic in a way, it was about a year ago that the whole Windows Home Server mess started.  As I recall, HP announced they were going to start selling Drobos. And a short time after that Microsoft announced WHS 2011 would be without Drive Extender. At about the same time HP killed off its Mediasmart, and the rest is history. The ASUS is gone. Acer is off in who knows where.
And now we have a HP Microserver which is certified for WHS 2011. Not a bad unit. A bit weak under the hood maybe, but the price is okay and it is better than nothing.
