Hands On: Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition

We last reviewed Iomega’s entry-level NAS device, the Home Media Network Hard Drive 18 months ago. We uncovered a few no-brainer compatibility issues with Windows 7, but were generally impressed by its on board DLNA media server and backup software. That said, our verdict was that it was very much a “smarter hard drive” that lacked the breadth of features required to compete with more capable NAS servers. Things have moved on, and how will the company’s latest version of the media drive compare?

Western Digital Punts a New My Book Studio for Mac, But Where’s The Thunder?

Western Digital this week announced a brand new release of it’s My Book Studio hard drive. Shipping is capacities of 1TB – 3TB and clad in that same silver aluminium finish that the Mac guys and gals love, the My Book Studio utilises Firewire 800/400 and USB 2.0 interfaces for pumping data between the Mac and its platters.
