Western Digital Hits the 1TB Mark For Notebooks in a 9.5mm Form Factor

You have some choice if you want a 2.5” 12.5mm high drive with a 1TB capacity.  If you looking for something a slight bit smaller with that capacity, coming in with a 9.5mm high form factor drive is Western Digital.

The WD Scorpio Blue 1 TB model WD10JPVT hard drives are covered by a three-year limited warranty.  In the UK, they are available at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of £99.00.  In the US, I have spotted them on Newegg for $119.99.

The WD Scorpio Blue Feature list includes:

  • Low power consumption
  • Cool and quiet WhisperDrive™ technology
  • Reliable WD’s SecurePark™ technology
  • Shock Tolerant WD’s ShockGuard™ technology
  • Advanced Format (AF) technology

About Jim Clark

Hello. I’m from the heartland of the U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PCs since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.

    yes please!!!

I'd probably be better off upgrading my whole laptop at this point, as it already has a 500GB HDD.

    Jim,

Newegg has had the 9.5mm Samsung 1TB drives for two weeks now. Are you sure this WD is first out of the chute?
