For some time now, like many, I’ve been tracking what’s happening in the tablet world – there’s a lot of great innovation happening there in both hardware and software which I find fascinating.
And, being a seasoned tech blogger, I want to write about it!
Obviously, as a predominately home server-focused site, We Got Served is not the place to focus on tablets and mobile devices. I know readers come here for a specific set of topics, and that’s what we’ll continue to focus on. So today, I’m launching a brand new sister site to WGS, which will focus on a specific mobile platform.
Next week, HP launch their new WebOS tablet, the HP TouchPad, which looks like a great competitor to the iPad (I’m an iPad owner and I think it’s brilliant, by the way). I won’t bore you with the reasons why here at WGS, but if you’re interested in WebOS, the HP TouchPad or tablets in general, then it’s definitely a place you should check out.
It’s called TouchPad Talk, and my dream is to create a community that follows the same path as WGS – the same type of content, the same overall tone, the same awesome involvement from readers and the community. News, reviews, help and how tos. Just focused on a different platform, and via a different URL to keep things clean.
I’ve literally just taken the wraps off the site in the last hour so there’s no-one there – if you’re interested in checking it out (and maybe have a sneak preview into how the design of WGS may evolve later in the year), then please go ahead and visit, comment, register, get involved, spread the word at http://www.touchpadtalk.com – here’s a few pics of the site in action.
Starting a new community is a pretty lonely experience – I remember the first few weeks of WGS where there were zero visitors, and it’s pretty disheartening! So, please excuse the plug, but I’m hopeful that a few of you may be interested in getting involved with TouchPad Talk too – as a reader, writer, moderator or whatever. If you have any feedback, or you’d like to contribute, then feel free to drop me a line (there or here!) and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Right… apologies for the interruption to your usual service. We’ll take you back to your regular programming.
