At a Pepcom event this week in New York, HP were showing off a near final version of the TouchPad tablet, as reported by CNET. Whilst we’re just a week away from general availability in the US, HP representatives were keen not to let the CNET journalist run free with the device – signaling either the journalist in question looked like he might run off with the new tablet, or more likely the device being demoed was a pre-release prototype with potentially a few bugs still kicking around.
That said, the device itself didn’t look pre-production. HP reps showed off the TouchPad’s Adobe Flash compatibility using a movie website to demo the feature, alongside the bundled Amazon Kindle e-book app, and integrated photo browser app. Also on show were the HP TouchPad’s keyboard and Touchstone charger accessories (see our previews of both devices here and here).
Photos taken at the event include a rear shot of the TouchPad, which at first glance seems relatively bulbous and, courtesy of the shiny piano-black acrylic chassis, odds on to pick up more fingerprints than the TSA. We’ll be able to verify this as soon as our TouchPad arrives in a full Hands On review.
