Preview: HP Case for HP TouchPad

If you’re going to take the HP TouchPad out on the road, a case is an essential accessory to research. Without some hind of protection, that shiny new tablet you bought is going to be looking a lot less shiny after a few trips!

A variety of third-party cases for the HP TouchPad are hitting the market as we speak – it’s a lucrative, high margin category and you can be sure that you’ll be able to pick up cases in a rainbow of colours, patterns and materials in the coming months. For sure, HP know there’s an after-sales market out there for them, and as expected, they’ve released an official case for the HP TouchPad.

Dubbed HP Case for HP TouchPad, the product is exactly that. It’s a lightweight case that doubles as a stand for watching movies, web browsing and other activities without the need to hold the device. At 9.8 x 7.8 x 1.1 inches, it’ll fit snugly around the TouchPad allowing full visibility of the screen when in use.

As you’d imagine for a case, features are limited, but you will find holes in the right place for accessing the headphone jack, on/off and volume buttons and you can charge the device via USB while the case is fitted, which is a nice touch.

Priced at $49.99 (expect to see it nearer $35 online) it’s certainly a premium accessory, but one that will definitely come in handy when travelling. Our advice right now is to sit tight for a few weeks and see the range of third-party cases that comes through for the TouchPad. Once you have the full picture of prices, designs and features you can be sure you’ve made the right purchase for your needs at the best price.
