PC Specialist, a UK system builder, has unveiled three new Windows Home Server 2011 models this week.
Whether you’re seeking a low cost, low power server or a media server with maximum grunt, it looks like there’s a server for you. A range of upgrade options are available. As the name suggests, the server is passively cooled for silent operation.
Next up is the £550, Intel Core i3-based Mini Home Server. Optionally upgradable up to a Core i7-2600S, the Mini Home Server offers a range of expansion options including a choice of Intel DH67CF or ASUS P8H61-I motherboards, 4GB RAM, twin 750GB hard drives, a choice of DVD or Blu-Ray drives, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x USB 3.0 and 4 x USB 2.0 ports, and an internal 52 in 1 card reader.
Finally, at the top of the tree sits the Pro Power Server, at £850. That gets you an Intel Core i5-powered server, with 8GB RAM, a choice of chassis, HDMI and DVI out, twin 3TB WD Caviar Green hard drives, a choice of DVD or Blu-ray drives, Gigabit LAN, 6 x USB 2.0 ports and more upgrade options than you can shake a stick at.
