HFX PowerNAS 2011 Brings a Touch of Class to Windows Home Server

Now at  € 995.00, I’m not saying that HFX’s new PowerNAS 2011 home server is cheapest WHS 2011 hardware available, but it’s most definitely the coolest looking model I’ve seen so far.

The six-bay chassis (1 x 2.5″ system drive bay and 5 3.5″ bays) is powered by an Intel “Sandy Bridge” 2nd Generation Core i3 processor with 2GB RAM – five storage bays equals up to 15TB storage capacity, but note you’ll only find a 250GB hard drive in the base spec and that’s for the system volume.

Designed as a video server, the PowerNAS 2011 is passively cooled, (with even the disks connected to the side cooling fins for heat dissipation) and of course, you’ll find a wide range of connectors available, including DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, 2 x USB 3.0, 4 x USB 2.0, eSATA, GB LAN and 7.1 Audio. To reinforce those media server capabilities, there’s a blue LCD on the front panel and an optional slimline DVD or Blu-ray drive is also available.

The ultimate home server? It might just be… it’s certainly an indulgence, but if you have the cash, it looks like a very nice piece of kit indeed.

MMmmmmm…… It would make a nice Media Center Rig!!!!, as it would be a waste not to use all them connections on the back.

Definately a nice looking box and it has it all. I would have expected to see this design from Tranquil, their SQUASH is looking dated.

Does anyone know if they ship to the U.S? Unfortunately, their site is entirely in German without any options to welcome international customers.

Just wonder if we could buy just the case somewhere since it looks like we could put a standard ITX board in it. Would almost the perfect server with accessible HDs, along with the almost hidden slot load DVD. Just need to swap the esata for my SAS controller and I would be set.

It looks like HFX and AWEICO use the same case. Where can we buy this case for a DIY project?

update: After looking closer at the HFX PowerNAS web site, It appears HFX is the OEM maker of the case. I just emailed them per the message above asking if the case is for sale as bare bones. (thanks!) let's hope we can DIY. This case looks perfect paired with the ZOTAC H67ITX-C-E Mini-ITX motherboard
