Introduction
With the RTM of Windows Home Server 2011, interest in upgrading from v1 is most likely increasing. With the loss of Drive Extender, the one area that needs much more scrutiny is data redundancy. External data redundancy. For external backups, one needs to address the ease of swapping out disks if you have large amount of data. Plus the speed of the actual backup operation.
One solution that I am looking at today, the AZiO E377-U31, may be the backup ticket you are looking for. Tool less design and USB 3.0 should hopefully take care of the speed requirements noted above.
What’s In The Box?
We have the typical consumer-style packaging, which gives one a pretty decent idea of what you find inside,
what it can do,
and how it works.
Inside, you will find the enclosure well protected for the trip from the factory to your home.
Once removed, you find a power supply, slim user manual, USB 3.0 cable, and the enclosure.
Next, we have a couple of close-up shots of a very nice looking enclosure,
a closer shot of the back end showing the USB and power inputs, plus the tray release button,
and the USB 3.0 cable. As you can see in the following picture, this end of the cable requires a mating USB 3.0 socket. The opposite end will fit in either a 3.0 or 2.0 socket.
