Back in January, Iomega unveiled a host of new product lines for 2011. In amongst the network attached storage devices and media receivers was an interesting iPhone backup and charging device called the SuperHero. The premise is simple – a dock makes charging your iPhone easy, and unless you’re a stickler for backing up your phone daily, losing your contacts and photos can be a real risk.
The SuperHero aims to address that issue with a great looking charging dock with a couple of tricks up its sleeve. Once docked, it automatically backs up your contacts and photo stored on your handset to a supplied 4GB SD card. It supports Apple iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4) and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations of the Apple iPod touch. For 2nd and 3rd generations of the iPod touch, the SuperHero will back up and restore only contacts.
What’s in the Box?
The SuperHero ships in an attractive Iomega branded box that slides open to reveal the dock within. Inside, you’ll find:
- Iomega SuperHero Dock
- Power Adaptor
- 4GB Lexar SDHC card

First Looks
Iomega have done a very nice job with the aesthetic design of the SuperHero. Once could argue that it’s difficult to get an iPhone dock design wrong, but the device’s brushed steel finish and curves mirror those of the iphone very neatly. Small it may be, but it’s pretty enough to brighten up your desk, no problem. As you’d expect, the top surface sees Apple’s standard 30 pin connector, with power connector and SD card slot at the rear. That’s it.
