Add-in Update: Feedsource for Windows Home Server

Following a successful private beta last year, Tentacle Software’s Feedsource for Windows Home Server has been released to the public.

Feedsource is a $10 add-in which publishes an RSS feed on your remote access website with details of new and changed files in your home server’s shared folders. The feed can be viewed by any RSS reader that supports authenticated feeds.

Features

  • Authenticated RSS feeds for Shared Folders that show create, delete, rename, and change events for files and directories
  • Granular control to enable or disable RSS feeds for each Shared Folder
  • Automatic integration with the Remote Access web site to view feeds from outside your network with no extra port-forwarding or configuration
  • Simple setup through the Windows Home Server Console
  • Secure authentication and authorization using SSL and existing Windows Home Server access controls
  • RSS 2.0 and Atom support

Looking at their website it actually costs $10.00 USD

Whoops, you’re right – apologies. I spotted the “free trial” and missed the charge. Thanks for correcting!

Looking into getting a file/folder monitor basically like this. Though I don’t really need it as an RSS feed so I’m not sure if I will pick this up for $10.

For just monitoring folders, there is the 'Directory Watcher' add-in but its functionality is limited and it won't spot file changes. I use it for creating an HTML directory of useful PDF documents that I can then access through my WHS home page.

You could always get a program like watch directory.

Could never get Watch Directory to work properly

This is exactly a little something I must find more information about, thanks for the publish.
