TRENDnet Pushes Speeds Further With 450Mbps Wireless N Access Point

With the price of networking kit crashing, you’d be forgiven for thinking there was little new innovation left in the product category, and indeed, you’d probably be right. That said, the networking guys are still working hard to woo you with new features and faster speeds. This time, it’s the turn of TRENDnet, whose all-new TEW-690AP Wireless-N Access point is boasting speeds of up to (you heard that “up to”, didn’t you?) 450 Mbps, courtesy of its three MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output antennae).

Otherwise, the spec sheet features all the usual bells and whistles you’d expect from a turn of the decade access point. Choose from access point, repeater or WDS modes, a Gigabit LAN connection to your router and Wi-Fi Protected Setup for easy configuration. Now all you need to do is to find a 450Mbps Wi-Fi adaptor for your notebook to take advantage of those speeds. Good luck!

The TEW-690AP Wireless-N Access is shipping now for a rather premium $199.99, although expect to find some pretty heavy discounts online.
