A few weeks ago, I reviewed the Amulet Remote, which is a voice-activated Windows Media Center remote.
One of the features that did not work for me was the Learning Mode, which allows the Amulet Remote to learn certain button commands of other remotes.
The good people at Amulet had me do some checking and we discovered that I had an early version of the firmware that is not in the models being shipped to customers. Amulet sent me a remote with the current shipping firmware to confirm that this feature works. Or not.
Using the instructions I made note of in the review,
I programmed the remote for my A/V receiver that I have hooked up to my computer (yes, I do like a decent sound system). The result was: it just works!
What is even nicer is that this particular setup would allow me to put that A/V receiver remote in a drawer, as this is the only function I used on this remote.
If so desired, I could set up this remote to perform this same function on my TV. As long as one has the correct firmware, of course.
