Breckenridge: Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials

Over in Germany, Microsoft announced early today a new edition of the Windows Server family called Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials, formerly codenamed “Breckenridge”. Based on the Windows Home Server codebase, the platform provides client and server backup features with the ability to join an existing domain in an Active Directory environment.

LaCie have announced Mac support for their range of USB 3.0 hard drives and NAS devices, with speeds up to twice that of FireWire 800, according to the manufacturer.

Acer have announced that their latest digital media receiver, the RevoView, launched today in the UK. The £120 media player, which we featured in our coverage of this year’s IFA trade show in Berlin, is fully DLNA compatible with 1080p streaming of high definition video from a network device, connected USB drive, memory card or an optional internal 3.5” hard drive.

Best Buy Rolls Out Magnolia Design Centers in the US, New Stores in the UK

The roll-out of the Best Buy brand continues in the UK with the opening of a new store in Derby today.
