Add-in Update: DNS Updater v1.0.3.2

Ten Atoms has released an update the week for DNS Updater. The add-in allows the use of a vanity URL (e.g. yourchoice.com) to access the server remotely, rather than the default homeserver.com domain.

The add-in supports domains hosted by a variety of service providers, including:

  • DynDNS
  • NO-IP
  • ZoneEdit
  • DNS-O-Matic
  • Open DNS

New in v1.0.3.2 is support for TZO hosting, and the following bug fixes:

  • .NET 2.0 error on uninstall on Vista and Windows 7.  When uninstalling DNS Updater while the product is running on Windows Vista or Windows 7 you would get an unhandled exception of .NET 2.0.  This issues has been resolved.
  • False notification of update available.  When running version 1.0.1.0 a new version available was always reported.  This issue has been resolved.

The price of the add-in has now ben reduced by 50%, to $9.99.

That's a more reasonable price. Now just wait until there is a 50% discount.

Ok, it's a nice add-in but I really don't see the need for it especially at that not reasonable price.

Many home routers have a built in dns updater and there are tons of free utilities that do the same thing.

( btw: my propensity to spend for anything related to WHS is close to zero now that the future of the platform is basically nil )
