ASoft have today released a preview version of their popular AutoExit add-in for Windows Home Server Vail. AutoExit 2010 is a power management add-in which allows you to shutdown awake up and reboot client PCs on the network from the Windows Home Server dashboard, individually or as a group. The add-in also lets you send messages to client PCs across the network, view and edit MAC addresses and allows remote desktop connections.
As Windows Home Server Vail is still in beta, there are a number of bugs that are causing issues for add-in authors, particularly around installation and uninstallation of add-ins. Asoft are seeking help identifying and reporting these bugs before Vail reaches RTM.
AutoExit 2010 Beta 1 has the following known issues:
- Problems with WOL (address is sometimes wrong and it can’t be saved)
- The client installer still has to be installed separately like in WHSv1 but this will be integrated in the installer, in the next version.
- Not everything is translated yet.
The add-in package contains two files, an add-in for the server and an application for client PCs. Whilst the client application has to be installed manually in the beta release, it will automatically be pushed to clients during the server installation in the final version.
Once the client application is installed, you’ll be able to wake up the server automatically from the AutoExit System Tray icon.
AutoExit 2010 Beta 1 is available now from Asoft.be.
