Add-in: AutoExit 2010 for Windows Home Server Vail

ASoft have today released a preview version of their popular AutoExit add-in for Windows Home Server Vail. AutoExit 2010 is a power management add-in which allows you to shutdown awake up and reboot client PCs on the network from the Windows Home Server dashboard, individually or as a group. The add-in also lets you send messages to client PCs across the network, view and edit MAC addresses and allows remote desktop connections.

Hands On: LaCie 5big Storage Server

Last month, we took a detailed look at LaCie’s debut Windows Home Server solution for small businesses and professionals. We found the 5big Backup Server to be a great backup and file sharing device, especially for businesses with PCs and Macs, although it was let down somewhat by a relatively meagre hardware specification for the asking price.

Launched simultaneously with that model was LaCie’s 5big Storage Server, a “big brother” to the Backup Server designed for larger businesses and branch offices, and that’s what we’re taking a look at today.
