I really like that case. I am not very fond of my HP MSS EX495 and this looks like a great case for a home build.

Just used this case to build a home server with an Intel DH57JG, Intel Core i3 520, 8GB Crucial Ram, RocketRAID 2680 PCIe, 1x Intel X25-M 80GB SSD (Windows Server 2008 R2) and 4x WD Green 2TB drives. Brilliant case, keeps everything nice and cool. Only comment I would make is that the standard intel heatsink will not fit, had to go for a low profile one (Akasa Intel LGA775/1156 AK-CCE-7106HP).

Only negative I would add is there is a bit of rumble from the hard disks at times, maybe the bays could of been more sound proofed or had rubber grommets fitted.

Folks, I’m assuming that building a home server or NAS server with this box means that the motherboard will have to have an onboard video controller, since there’s only one card expansion slot and that’s mostly likely to be reserved for a RAID adapter that supports RAID 5 etc. Am I correct?

A few years ago when building my NAS I couldn’t find any cases like this (I made do with a Morex Venus 669 and a 5 1/4″ adaptor to cram 4 drives inside it). I’m building a new NAS since the motherboard on my old one has died. I decided to get this case so I can easily swap out the drives, and paired it up with an Asus E35M1-I (AMD Fusion) board and a 16GB SSD for the OS (Linux).

I wish more companies would make cases like this. A 6 bay one would be nice :-)

    It’s a bit cheaper at LinITX now – £82.80
