Apple iPhone 4 Now Pre-ordering

It’s a busy (not to say expensive) week for tech enthusiasts! Not only did the new Xbox 360 go on sale in the US and Europe, Apple decided to open pre-ordering for the all new iPhone 4.

The new iPhone brings a raft of new features, including video calling (branded FaceTime), a new 3.5”, 960 x 640 resolution “retina display”, HD video recording and iMovie app for editing as well as the long-awaited ability to multitask between applications.

In the US, the initial batch of pre-orders have been exhausted, with Apple now promising to ship units by July 2nd. Only the black model is available at this point, with the 16GB iPhone priced at $199, and a 32GB model at $299. UK customers can purchase the iPhone unlocked directly from Apple for the first time, although pricing is steep without a network subsidy.

would like to know why it's more than twice the price in the UK compared to the US

Hi Darren – the US pricing is contract pricing, subsidised by AT&T. The UK pricing is for an unlocked, contract free phone.
