Belkin Deliver Four New Routers for Four Different Digital Homes

Sure we’ve seen 802.11n network speeds emerge in the last few years, USB printer and hard drive sharing on the network, but we’re all waiting for the Next Big Thing. Belkin this week released four new routers that signal a completely fresh take on router design, offering a segmented range of features designed around the type of user that will buy them. Meet the Surf, Share, Play and Play Max Wireless Routers.

Nice looking set of routers. Terry do you know if any of these support loopback?

Hi – just checked the press kit again and can't see any mention of loopback – I guess that doesn't mean it's definitely not supported, but it's dubious!

Hmm may have to hold out until linksys get their game together.

I may be missing something, but the Play router does not seem to make sense. They claim that the Wireless capability is up to 300Mbs. But from here and the Belkin web site, the Wired connection to it is up to 100Mbps. So, if you are transfering data through a wired connection, it would seem that up to 100Mbs would be fair to say. If you were transfering data to another Wireless device on the same router, it would be fair to say up to 150Mbs since wireless capacity is always shared.

The Play Max seems to be a better choice since does have a GigaBit Ethernet switch. I could not find it on the Belkin web site so it is not clear what the speed of the WAN port is. I currently use a LinkSys 610n as an access point since it is Dual Band Simultaneous and Gigabit. The Play Max seems to offer the same features at a lowere price.
