HP MediaSmart Server/HP Data Vault v3.2.1 Update Now Available

Lots of news this week regarding HP software updates!

HP have released what appears to be a downloadable update for EX490/495 MediaSmart Servers & the HP Data Vault X510. The update should also work with all MediaSmart Servers that have been upgraded to the v3.0 software.

The release, v3.2.1.4990, is available to download from hp.com and is a 35MB download. No changelog has been published, but we’ve previously heard that this update will include an update to TwonkyMedia Server amongst other fixes.

Update: More on this from Alex over at mediasmartserver.net

Nigel “Cougar” Wilks and I have spent some time digging into the installer package, and discovered that the only changes included are the 5.1.1 version of the Twonky Media Streamer that is already included in the 3.0 software update for the previous generation servers, and new client software for Mac users. There are no changes to the HP code that runs on the server, and several known bugs with 3.0 patch 1 remain unresolved, such as broken help links, the broken image on the Remote Access Home Page, and various other issues we’ve documented in the forums.

Terry line 2 is pretty redundant; why not say all 3.0+ data and media servers?
My blood was honestly boiling for a few milliseconds pre sentence 3.

Thanks for the feedback – it was pretty late when I wrote this…. not sure if everyone would understand the phrase "3.0+ data and media servers" – but agree, it's getting a little confusing!

Yeah Terry, and start using more Z's instead of S's! :D

Ha ha – now don't you start on me as well, Kuretz! :) :) Just remember we invented the flipping language in the first place :p

Oops never meant to give you a hard time there 0_0, your work is much appreciated ^_^

Just thought a repeat of 2 years back may have been on the horizon ^_-.

This did not fix my issue with the 3.0 update – CPU pegged at 100% by Twonky. It appears that the new Twonkymedia is sensitive to particular video files.

Was able to diagnose and workaround with HP support. Downloaded handle from Microsoft.

With twonky running, handle -p twonky will show you which files are hung up in Twonky. Cancel the twonkymediaserver process, move/delete the offending file, restart twonky, rinse and repeat.
