Step 8: Log-in to your home server
HP Update will want to check whether there’s any further updates available. Is a two generation update not enough? Sheesh!
Step 9: Check Out Your New MediaSmart Server
You’ve been updated! As mentioned earlier, I found the software to work well with 2GB of memory on board. The User Interface was responsive, and there was little lag.
As a bonus, if you haven’t updated to Windows Home Server Power Pack 2 previously, you just did! You can go ahead and grab Power Pack 3 via Windows Update.
Step 10: Set up your User Accounts, Remote Access and Install Add-ins
True to its word, you have a fresh install, so it’s time to re-set up your user accounts, get remote access working again and install your add-ins.
Step 11: Check Your Data!
Head over to your shared folders, and you’ll see your data has not been touched.
That’s it! Whilst it’s been a long wait for the update to be released, HP have done a great job in creating a relatively easy upgrade path for MediaSmart Server users. The update is highly recommended – go get it!
