How to: Share Outlook Calendars on Windows Home Server

The Home Server Show website has a great walkthrough for sharing your Outlook Calendars on Windows Home Server’s remote access website.

In this case we want to publish content to the existing WHS Internet Information Services (IIS) web server. Therefore we have to begin by activating the WebDAV component of WHS as well as those found on your clients PC.

The special ingredients lies within WebDAV, a protocol used to publish and manage content to the WHS web server IIS or any Windows based server. WebDAV is an extension of the HTTP/1.1 protocol described in RFCs 2518 and 3253. WebDAV provides the following features which makes it ideal for the publication of your Outlook Calendar. It work today, but as of late Microsoft seems to have moved away from this protocol, so who knows if this will work in the next version of WHS.

The walkthrough involves a little bit of work with the IIS settings on your home server, so is for seasoned tinkerers only!

If this works for the Calendars through WebDAV, would this also work for the E-Mails?

is there any way to have a shared calendar between two people who both have write access to it? What about contacts? That would be nice as my wife and I share a bunch of common contacts and calendar dates but it sucks having to keep separate profiles

Thanks for the heads up, but i stick to using Cosmo Chandler Server, which supports WebDav, CalDav, ical and works nicely with Apple iCal, Lightning, Sunbird , Evolution, Office Outlook , iPhone OS and Android all from in a self contained Tomcat 5 unit, or can be installed a in existing tomcat. It will also work with Tomcat6 just by copying 8 files. I used it as a content/calendar sharing server that support collaboration and also with Xmarks BYOS for sync my Firefox bookmarks. I have it fully integrated with iis xxxxxx.homeserver.com including ssl
