LaCie Announce Rugged eSATA Hard Drive

Yet another new connector, the USB-eSATA combo (also known as Power eSATA) is starting to make its way on to newer laptops, and as you’d expect, manufacturers are rushing to create products that support it.

First out of the blocks is LaCie with their Rugged eSATA Hard Drive, a 500GB mobile storage device offering speeds of up up 90MB/s when connected to the new port.

The drive is bus-powered when connected to the new port, but is also compatible with standard eSATA ports when the included USB power sharing cable is connected.

Pricing is expected to be around £139.
