Tranquil PC today revealed updated versions of their three home server models, sporting new processors in the shape of the Intel Atom D510, increased RAM up to 4GB and all at a lower price than Series 1.

The chassis will look familiar, but remember, as your mum probably told you, it’s what’s inside that counts.

Here’s the lowdown from Tranquil…

I just wish their tech support was up to par. My SQA-5H died 2 weeks ago and I'm still playing email tag with these guys.

Hardware good – support a bit lacking. The PSU on my T7 died last year, and while the first support response was rapid, actually getting the replacement part sent out was like pulling teeth :( Shame. Would probably still consider them again though.

Agree 100% – the Tranquil boxes are good, the PSUs and support are lamentable!

Not good, first replacement PSU (just within 1 year) took about 4 weeks of my effort and eventual apologies from Tranquil support , the new PSU went again within a few months, and I got nil support – not even connector/voltage info so I could source a PSU other than theirs.

So I ditched Tranquil and cannibalised their CPU and drives – would not buy again from them.

I have to comment on the support from Tranquil. I bought an AVA media server from them last summer and I am appaled at their poor service. I would not purchase from them again because of this.
If you are thinking of buying their product spend some time reviewing their support by asking a few questions before you commit and see what sort of response you get. It tends to take about 3 or 4 weeks to get an initial answer from them followed by email ping pong that drags on interminably without seeming to get near a resolution. And on their 'live' chat you can wait for over an hour to get a response.
    Try before you buy.

Does anyone know where I can find the SQA-5H Series 2 for sale in the US, looks plenty tempting.

Really seems a shame. Their hardware (apart from PSU) seeems on the money, and Lord knows we need a few more UK-based providers. Unfortunately if you are going to position a company as medium/high-end then you need to provide commensurate support.

Yep. I also would not entertain buying from them again after the poor service I received playing tag for over a month with their support team. Server was eventually returned to base for repair and came back still not working properly.
I haven't the stomach to deal with them again.
