I’ll try this one out as soon as it does not require to jailbreak the iPhone.

  • jtb

    What about Android???

    • Suwarrow

Yeah, Android is the way forward.

  • scot

    what about blackberry

  • thomas

I agree with the jailbroken comment. If you charged $1.99 for this on the app store, people would buy it easy. I would.

    • Peter

and me (that’s 3.98 in the bank …)

  • Brad

Has anyone had an issue with the iphone app crashing their phone? Mine is in a continuous loop.

  • RaDude

I have the latest version 1.5 of the WHS Mobile add-in. I also downloaded the WHS mobile app on my iPhone 3G and my wife’s iPhone 3GS. I also have 3 user accounts enabled on my Home Server (all with the same level of permissions). I was able to get WHS Mobile working with my credentials, but If I try setting up the credentials for any of the other 2 user accounts, the iphone app fails to connect with the error : “The system has failed to login. Are you sure you have the right password?”.

Any ideas on what may be causing it?

  • RaDude

Looks like adding the other 2 user accounts to the Power Users security group on the server resolved the issue.
The other issue that I’m seeing now is if I disable User Management and UPnP Forwards in the WHS console>Settings>WHS Mobile for a particular User, If I log in to the WHS Mobile app on my iphone as that user, the User and UPnP options are still showing on the bottom, but clicking any of them just crashes the app.

  • GRRemlin

Will there be an Android version?

    Thanks

  • Chris Guest

All was fine until I installed 1.5.1 on the server. Now can’t login using the iPhone no matter what group I add teh remote user account to.

  • Chris Guest

Sorry – I’m a dummy. I uninstalled the previous version and then installed the new one and it all works like a dream. Thanks for a great app.

  • James Tenniswood

I just ran into a issue, do remember to update both the WHS software and the iphone software, anything but the latest versions don’t seem to play well together.

Lacks the posibillity to stream MP3 to Windows devices, shouldn´t be the big problem, any timeframe for this?

  • Peter

Can this application also provide some support for backing up the windows mobile phone to the homeserver , a bit like the Microsoft My Phone Service tries to achieve in the cloud, but then better backed up on the own Windows home server ? Or anybody knows a tool that does that ?

    • Mark

I use a combination of live mesh and pimbackup. the backup is for emails, texts, contacts etc, and runs daily. then the backup folder is synced back to my server through mesh. I sync some other folders this way too – music and ebooks, and photos obviously.i get the benefit of being able to add stuff to my phone without a cable, just by dropping files into the mesh folder.

How about a Maemo 5(Linux based) version?

    Runs on the new N900!

  • Palmuser

    What about Palm Pre?

  • Ash

Please Please Please make a blackberry Storm version!

  • Guido

I’m aware that there are a few problems with this Iphone app. But the potential value of this app sounds great. Our problem is that at the AppStore in the Netherlands the old 1.0.1 version is still offered. Due to the way the AppStore works we are not allowed to obtain the 1.5.3 version from another localised store. I’m happy to pay a few bucks for a good app and support the developer (have read his problems with Apple’s philosophy and way of working). I hope other people will be able to help in this development! Keep on the great work.

      • D4audio

Andriod now out selling iphone and still no app!!!!!!!!Broken is right on the money!!

  • ISDN

    “I think, therefore i Android”

  • reddragon72

I 10th the Android version. You are taking a windows product ignoring the windows mobile people and shipping a CrApple version, and ignoring the tweakers, the Android group.

CrApple is not where it is at anymore!

  • Steve Wilson

Need to add support for BlackBerry (specifically Storm 2) :)

  • JazJon

I can't seem to get WHS to connect on my iPhone any more. It used to work great several months ago but I havnt used it in awhile.

I launch the iPhone app and see:

    Starting WHS Server…

    then a popup:

    "Uh oh!
Either the WHS Mobile domain is incorrect, or the domain cannot be contacted."

My EX945 Windows Home Server is fully up to date. (all windows updates, and apps up to date)

I tried connecting to both the local IP 192.168.1.102 and myserver.homeserver.com

I tried both 3G and WiFi on my iPhone.

Both result in the same error.

I even tried changing the logon to Administrator instead of my username.

Any other troubleshooting tips? Should I uninstall and reinstall WHS Mobile on both the WHS and iPhone?

If I use the HP MediaSmart iPhone app I'm able to connect just fine, so the domain name is correct. The domain name is also confirmed working in other ways in settings etc.

I decided to try and uninstall/reinstall the WHS Mobile addin. I couldnt uninstall it ! (error) I had to go in via remote desktop to the full server, and do a manual uninstall. I then used Add-in Cleanup utlity to manually delete WHS Mobile from the installed add-in's list. After rebooting I installed WHS Mobile cleanly. Ok so even after a new install, I STILL CANT CONNECT! :-( wtf?

    Suggestions?

    Update:
    Brent, on 10 July 2010 – 11:14 AM, said:
"Sorry about that, I haven't been able to test WHS Mobile with iOS 4 until now. It seems there is a bug in iOS 4. Please open up your iPhone settings, tap WHS Mobile, and re-enter the port number (clear the box and enter 8169). After that, relaunch WHS Mobile (close it if already running in background)."

    The above worked for me!

Ok, now on to the next problem. I can't upload photos at all. I'm in files, I see all my folders, I go into pictures, !temp, click on Options, Upload. (pick a photo, it seems to show it uploading) after that the picture is not there still as if nothing happened.

The strange thing is I CAN upload from Camera. If I do that, the photo shows up just fine. Why can't I upload a photo I've already taken?

Uploading photos to my server is the main feature I need WHS Mobile for.

I wish the Developer had renewed interest in this program. I like it a lot and it comes in handy. There just needs to be some bugs addressed.

I hate to see great things cast aside.
