Kentdome/HomeServerLand publishes a couple of (or more!) WHS add-ins.  Some I use, some I don’t , some I can’t.  Kentdome has requested a few beta testers to help test some of their software.

The announcement:

We are happy to announce the availability of limited Kentdome beta slots.

The Kentdome Beta Program is valuable because “real world” users (you) may find bugs that are difficult or impossible to locate in a development environment. Furthermore, it creates a way to contribute directly with a lot of hands on: help improve existing or add new product features and be a key player when we create new add-ins from scratch!

What does that mean?  It means that this is not the usual shout-out for some brave souls to passively download software; instead we are looking for a limited number of active individuals (max 10 people) who are excited about the program and are willing to provide useful feedback and participation throughout the entire period.  Technical expertise is not a requirement to participate in the beta program and there are some perks to entice you.

Admission to the Kentdome beta group will be based on correlation to our beta requirements.

How to make the cut? Simple – leave a comment below with your WHS hardware configuration and please answer:

  1. Does your WHS have an internal or external CD/DVD burner?
  2. Does your WHS have an internal or external POTS or VoIP telephony device?
  3. Do you have a UPS? (Make, model #, interface (USB, RS232))
  4. Why do you want to participate?

Thank you

Don’t leave a comment here, though!  Check the configuration request, head on over to the Kentdome post, and leave a comment there if you are interested.  Better hurry though, as space is limited.

Hello. I’m from the heartland of U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PC’s since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.

I like so much my WHS server that I push my colleagues and friends to bought one.
I appreciate to try to improve his usage inside the family, generating new approches for his usage under a family and friends network.

Two PCs currently works with WHS : one with an old PUV 2,4 GHz, 1,5 GB Ram, 1To hard drive, two RJ45. The other just bought is an HP Mediasmart EX470, will probably see his processor, RAM, and an additionnal 1,5 GB hard drive.
