Conclusions
While I writing this review, I did rip a movie (using DVDFab6) and move it to my videos folder on my WHS. I fired up media Center, and within a few minutes, My Movies had informed me that a new movie had been added to the database. Which was quite impressive.
I really like My Movies. It does a very nice job of creating, updating, and maintaining a movie database. It has a fair share of database editing options available (with the one caveat noted above), and the final result inside Media Center looks incredible.
It has been a few versions since I tried My Movies, so I cannot effectively comment on new features, but like I said before, I really like My Movies. The “previous” manual method of using DVD Library Manager gives me much more control over my database, but My Movies does such a great job of doing all that behind the scenes. I wonder why I stopped using it before.
Conclusion: highly recommended!
Before I finish up, I am left wondering, what is the current need for My Movies for WHS? Since you can provide search folder locations in Windows Media Center, I find the WHS add-in rather pointless. I can store everything I want on my WHS (keyword: server), and use Windows Media Center as, well, my Media Center. Of which My Movies is an integral part.
Of course, if Microsoft incorporates Media Center in Windows Home Server, we will have a whole new set of program options to consider.
