The My Movies add-in
In order to make use of the My Movies add-in, you must open Windows Media Center. One of the first changes you will notice is the addition of the My Movies tab.
As soon as you click on this tab, you will be greeted with the following question.
Click on Yes and after a couple of questions, My Movies will track movies added to the videos folder of your MC PC and (if you have MC setup to look for movies on your WHS) your WHS.
The background of the next picture is from the trailer library. As you can see, an update is already available for My Movies.
Normally, the trailer library will be filled with pictures (in lieu of titles), as can be seen below.
Moving over to the Movies Library tab, you will notice that there is nothing to see. Please note that all my movies are on my WHS, and the following picture was taken prior to “allowing” My Movies to look for movies on my WHS. So, before
and after. As you hover the mouse over a selection
and after a short delay, you get a movie scene.
If you like what you see, click on the play button, sit back, relax, and enjoy the movie.
For reference, the default MC Movies Library view.
All the My Movies cover art and synopsises were automatically downloaded in the background. Once configured, updates to the library are pretty much a “set-and-forget” task.
Clicking on the Search tab will bring you here.
Clicking on the Movies option, for example, will bring you here
As you type in characters, a list will appear as can be seen below.
Clicking on the “play disc” item will play a DVD (or Blu-ray) in your DVD/Blu-ray drive. If you click on “copy disc” it will bring you to this screen:
I do not use AnyDVD, so I was not able to check out this feature. Which is not really a problem, as you can use your ripper of choice and move the ripped files to one the folders that My Movies tracks. It is just that this a more automated method of getting your movie documented. Which is the strength of this program. Rip and let My Movies do the rest, automatically. For the most part.
