We gave you a heads up back in January and June that D-Link were planning to support control of their IP Camera range with a Windows Home Server add-in and today, the company announced the beta release of D-Link D-ViewCam for Windows Home Server.

The D-Link D-ViewCam is a software add-in for Windows Home Server that provides instant access to your live camera feeds and all the surveillance video already saved to your server. Compatible with the D-Link Network Cameras models DCS-920, DCS-1100, DCS-1130 Add In: D Link D ViewCam for Windows Home Server Beta and DCS-2121, this add-in allows users to easily manage their recording, streaming, and camera settings – all within the Windows Home Server administrative Console. Manage and access up to 4 live camera feeds from home or even remotely via the web.

Nice to see another company commit to Windows Home Server development – greater device support from D-Link is apparently in the pipeline:

“We’re working on developing more D-Link devices that are Microsoft Windows Home Server compatible so our customers can quickly and easily derive more benefits from some of our most popular products,” said AJ Wang, chief technology officer, D-Link. “I believe our customers will appreciate how simple it is for network devices to be recognized and installed on the server and will value the remote access that it provides.”

Who knows, maybe we’ll see a home server from them in the future?

I have so far been unable to get this to work. After installing it on the WHS, when I open the browser and select run, it does it's little install but then ask me for the IP Address of the server. Press connect and nothing ever happens on any of the systems within my home.

I assume you're using a x64 bit machine to view this on? The software doesn't support any windows 64 bit OS's and doesn't run. Appears to be no timeline from DLink either. Shotty coding.

Very interested in this software add-in, and I like / use D-Link products, *but*… please encourage anyone who implements this to let us know which model D-Link camera(s) they use. I am intrigued by the Power Over Ethernet (PoE) camera models for permanent installation in my house, but, I am a little discouraged by the price increase for PoE, and the fact that I would need to buy a D-Link 24-port PoE switch (the PoE cameras won't work with my regular 16-port D-Link switch, and D-Link does not make PoE switches less than 24-port).

Thx in advance for a review!

Like Troyfreeze, I can't get it to work. I have the DCS-920 working with my desktop. Installed add on for WHS and tried remote access. I get to the install the program, Run, try to sign in and get an error message:
"an attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its
    access permissions 67.189.76.219:110(67.189.76.219) "
I also notice in the screenshots of the server console that a live image is available besides the recorded images. I don't have that. Any ideas?

    Hi,

Stock market India is volatile and all those who speculate in market are loosing everyday. Please remember stock market is not for speculation purpose. If one feel investing in stock market is gamble then its better to think again.

One should always note that if they want to invest money they should do proper research be it fundamental research or technical research. Just think how come you can invest
your money without any convincing reason for the same?

Indian stock market is one of the most happening and emerging market. Major Indian stock exchanges are BSE and NSE and both are of world class standards.

So grab good stocks and invest that’s the bottom line
