HP MediaSmart Server for $252

Looks like Newegg are clearing out their stock of the first generation HP EX470 MediaSmart Server.

HP MediaSmart EX470, Windows Home Server w/ AMD Sempron 1.8GHz 512MB DDR2 500GB SATA HDD HP MediaSmart Server for $252

The EX470 is available for $279.99 and you can get an extra reduction by using the coupon code HP1X191, taking the price down to just $252.

Worried it’s a little old? Fear not, slap a 2GB RAM module into this guy, install the forthcoming 3.0 MediaSmart Server update, and you’ll have a decent home server! The processor’s a little long in the tooth, but should run the latest HP software reasonably. If you’re looking for a great home server at a top notch price, you could do a heck of a lot worse.

(Thanks to Scott for the tip!)

You might want to update it to let people know it's re-certified.

Anyways, I'm in for 1. My Blu-Ray and DVDs are making it necessary for one.

This is tempting seeing how the power supply just went out on my EX470… And i already have the LE1640 processor and a 2gb stick. I'd just be worried about the PS going out again and being REALLY angry.

Just got mine and plugged it in. Great box! I already had a PC buildt for WHS and had procrastinated buying the software. This deal was too good to pass up!

Now I need to get through the WGS recommendations to see what to add (oh, and probably upgrade my RAM)!
