WHS Mobile has reached version 1.5.3 this week, with a range of new features and fixes including:
- UI improvements
- No more waiting for a folder’s thumbnails to load
- Fixes uploading
- Enhanced security
- Added support for high-bitrate mp3s
- Added document viewing (PDF, HTML, XLS, and DOC)
- Search has been redone
WHS Mobile allows you to configure and manage your home server remotely via a Windows Mobile device or an iPhone. Additionally, you can use the add-in to stream MP3s to an iPhone, and WMA tracks to a Windows Mobile device. Since release, the add-in has suffered with a number of bugs which author, Brent Friedman has been steadily fixing. Make sure you rate the add-in over at Home Server plus!

After initial issues which basically made the app (iphone) unuseable, version 1.53 is an absolute winner. I'm very impressed – as is everyone I show!

Excellent news.
I have however still 3issues:
- Still cannot access my Homserver outside of my LAN (apparently the DLink DIR.655 does not want to assign the port xxxx to my internal server . conflicts with PPTP ALG something..)
- Still not icon images showing for the first page (OK for the others)
- Unicode for folder seems to be not supported. It gives me no content when I browse folders with french accents in the names like 'Documents scannés' (= scanned documents).
Anyway, thanks a lot for that tool.

you need to exit the app and go to your iphone setting. scroll all the way down until you see whs mobile and put your server's address and login info. should work after that.

This is a fantastic add-in, and the $2 bucks is well worth it for the iphone app. I had some trouble getting it working, but now it's working great. Here's a few tips for others trying to get it work with the iphone:
Make sure you have port 8169 forwarded to your server. I'm using TCP portforwarding on a D-link DIR-655 and it's working fine.
After you install the add-in on your server make sure you go to the settings page and add permission for your user account to access what you want to access.
After you install the iPhone app, you need to go to the iphone settings, scroll down and find the WHS Mobile settings. Enter your domain, username and account here.
If like me your ISP blocks port 80, you're probably used to entering ***.homeserver.com:888 (or whatever your non-standard port number is). DO NOT enter the port number. Just enter the ***.homeserver.com in the iphone settings. I was entering the port number and couldn't get it to work. Have removed it now and happily have access to my server via 3G on my phone from anywhere. Bit of a lag to load stuff up, but I'm a happy camper regardless.
