Have you used remote pointers like the Loop pointer from Hillcrest Labs? I wonder how you think they are in comparison.

Nice, but even better would be a small touch screen remote control with a small keyboard.
You already have the two combined in mobile phones, so all you need is a program that you can install on your windows mobile phone which can communicate with the htpc and/or your tv (infrared or bluetooth).

neat, this needs a little video of somebody actually using it. it looks cool but it also is a little questionable how you use it. Btw. this is going to be a really tough one to find once lost or replaced. All remotes should have a beeper that beeps when you turn the TV on.
