First Looks: Glide TV Navigator

I own one of those Logitech Harmony remotes.  They are usually quite expensive so I watch for a sale to buy one.  What follows is a bit about a new kind of remote for your HTPC to try, the Glide TV Navigator.  Kinda of sexy looking, or perhaps just different looking?

What is so special about the Glide?  From  Glide:

From movies to TV shows, from music services to radio stations, it’s all there at a click of a mouse.

But try to access it from your TV using an HTPC and you’ll discover that you need to balance a whole office on your knees…from a full keyboard to a mouse and a pad. And if you use a universal remote, you’ll discover that two-axis movement is not enough to navigate today’s websites.  The experience becomes cumbersome, even frustrating.

That’s where GlideTV Navigator comes in…it combines the functionality of a keyboard, mouse and AV remote in an elegant device that fits the palm of your hand.

GlideTV is the easiest way to surf the net from your TV…head-up and leaning-back.

And it fits in the palm of your hand!

Like I said, kinda sexy looking.  All it requires is a USB port to connect to one of the following:

• PC |Windows XP (SP2 or greater), Windows Vista™

• Mac |Mac OS X (10.4.11 or later)

• Sony PS3

And just a few shots of what you will find with the Glide.

This looks like it could be a neat device to improve your viewing experience between your Internet connected HTPC and TV.  And the cost is really not that bad:

$149 US | €129 (VAT included) | £119 (VAT included)

Hello. I’m from the heartland of U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PC’s since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.

neat, this needs a little video of somebody actually using it. it looks cool but it also is a little questionable how you use it. Btw. this is going to be a really tough one to find once lost or replaced. All remotes should have a beeper that beeps when you turn the TV on.

Nice, but even better would be a small touch screen remote control with a small keyboard.
You already have the two combined in mobile phones, so all you need is a program that you can install on your windows mobile phone which can communicate with the htpc and/or your tv (infrared or bluetooth).

Then you also have your beeper, just call your mobile from another phone :)

    Jim,

Have you used remote pointers like the Loop pointer from Hillcrest Labs? I wonder how you think they are in comparison.
