Following a successful design collaboration with Neil Poulton, LaCie turn to Philippe Starck to design their latest range of portable hard drives, and the end result looks stunning.

The Desktop Hard Drive comes in 1TB ($129.99) and 2TB ($249.99) flavours and looks a little like this:

On the mobile front, 320GB ($99.99) and 500GB ($139.99) drives have also received the Starck treatment:

“Technological genius explodes exponentially, each time with incredible power whose limits are yet to be known. The power remains, never abating, symbolically characterized by the sculptural magma that one attempts to cleave, to master within this geometrically perfect strongbox. A symbol of strength mastered, of freedom guided, of incandescent magma heeding to the form of its cast. The interpretation is free. But the mystery remains.” So says Monsieur Starck…

Erm, moving on, you’ll find LaCie Backup Assistant and LaCie Desktop Manager on board —helping you format, back up and customize the hard drive. If you’re looking for chi-chi storage, check out the link below.
