External Cooler On the Way for the Xtreamer

If you’ve picked up an Xtreamer recently, you’ll be aware that the in-built fan kicks out a fearsome noise, akin to a swarm of flies gathering on the sofa next to you to check out that latest MKV you pulled from the Interwebs. Check out our review for more on what we found out. Fortunately, help is around the corner from Tranquil PC who are developing a low cost (think less than £20) side cooler for the Xtreamer which will render the box silent.

Pricing and availability still to be confirmed, but it looks like a pretty essential add-on for Xtreamer owners wanting to keep the player cool and quiet.

£20 is not "low cost"!! (even if you say "less than")
That would be 22% of the price of the Xtreamer itself!!! (99€)

I mentioned the price to tranquil PC, and pointed out that the very fact they were making them suggested they knew that the fan was too loud. However to be fair to them, they dont make the Xtreamer and are just improving on a good device.
I would pay up to £10 maybe £15 at a push so long as that included delivery. I guess in the future they will come fitted with them, so once again the early adopter gets to pay for R&D.

    Hey Phil,
The early adopter always pays for R&D, I have an Xtreamer from Batch 3 I think, the fan is un-noticeable when you're streaming something with sound, of course I have it set to low speed for all but the most demanding formats.

It is definitely too loud when you're paging through your media library or there's a particularly silent bit in a stream.
