What Raxco Did Next – From PerfectDisk to PerfectSpeed

Not content with defragging the world’s hard drives (including a great defragmentation add-in for Windows Home Server which we reviewed earlier in the year), the guys over at Raxco have turned their hand to PC Optimisation with PerfectSpeed.

PerfectSpeed is not yet available for WHS (although I’m told Raxco are looking at it as an option) but can be used to optimise most home computers, and offers:

  • Disk Defragmentation
  • Registry Cleaning
  • Privacy Protection (Browser cache deletion)
  • Duplicate and Temp File Deletion
  • Windows Tweaks for Performance, Security and Appearance

Looks like a pretty cool product for those of you who can’t spend the time optimising your PCs by hand, and need a quick, safe and convenient tool to do it for you.

Worth checking out, especially as Raxco have pulled together a special deal for WGS readers on both PerfectSpeed and PerfectDisk for Windows Home Server. Head over to Raxco’s site, and use the promo code PSWHS25 which is good for 25% off PerfectDisk 10 Windows Home Server and PerfectSpeed (single licenses, 3-packs, family packs) through August 31st.

Nice offer but a little late for me. Iv'e had perfect disk for an age now. It might be worth them to start looking into the SSD market.

Nice try on PerfectSpeed. but there are several freeware options that do the same thing. What does PerfectSpeed (better) then the other (free) optimize tools floating around the net?

Better yet, why would we need one in the first place on WHS? It's a server, not a workstation!

Why are they wasting their time with a product like this?

ccleaner works great, so at the very least that part of this is useless

This is completely unnecessary at best, and has the potential to do harm. Registry cleaners in particular are dangerous. Windows is self optimizing to a good degree, and I've yet to see any proper test which proves that defragmenting, reg cleaning, temp file deletion etc have any impact on performance. Even if they did, these tools are all built into the OS.
