Pre-RTM Versions of Windows 7 on Their Last Legs

The Windows 7 pre-RTM versions are starting to wind down.  If you are still running a beta version, it will reboot ever 2 hours after July 1st.  And refuse to work after August 1st.

Moving over to Windows 7 Release Candidate, your ability to obtain a download from Microsoft will end August 15th.  Keys will still be available.  The OS will not.

And finally, if you are using the Release Candidate, your last chance to provide input prior to Windows 7 going Gold is here.

Hello. I’m from the heartland of U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PC’s since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.

The RC stops working later this year/next year. I can't remember exactly. However, you will no longer be able to d/l it (RC) after August 15th.

At least not from MS… I do not count torrents as being legitimate or free of malware…

No, no… the article says Pre-RTM… but the RTM (release to manufacturing) isn't released until October. I don't think "Pre-RTM" versions are going to be on their last legs until some time March of 2010, unless you're running the beta. ;)

Thats what I meant – Pre-RTM is misleading because RC has ages left… wonder who is still running a beta anyway?!?!
