Back in January, I discussed a new network camera from D-Link that promised future support for Windows Home Server. The D-Link D-Viewcam 4 WHS software has been shown off this week at the Computex 2009 show in Taiwan, which allows your to control a wide range of D-Link’s IP cameras from the Windows Home Server Console. Christoph has the scoop.
The following camera models are supported:

Very interesting for security/home monitoring from a remotely accessible server… only limiting factor forme will be the rubbish upload bandwidth of my broadband connection. Will be watching this with interest.

I'd like to see this plug-in come out – a WHS would also make a great security hub.

Hi,
Interesting post since I'm looking for a networked camera solution that I can use to monitor my driveway and backyard. Thus a solution for outside doors.
However, since we´ve been using Windows Vista Media Center (hooked to a Homeserver) we´d like to be able to access the live feeds directly from the MC and also to record live feeds using the MC.
Any thoughts or suggestions on that anyone?
Regards,
John

Hmm, I might turn my WHS's web access back on just for this software. I am currently using ATT Remote Monitoring, but it cost me $10 a month.

mControl may be able to help you with that. Check out Embedded Automation's forums. I know they have camera support in VMC. Just not sure about what models/software backend.

D-Link are about to release their little NAS (Network Attach Storage) boxes as the DNS-7xx series which include the recording capability, so you can have a small lower power consuming NAS box acting as your recorder allowing you to leave the more power hungry PCs turned off.
