Recently, I took a look at the Norco RPC-230 and RPC-430 rackmount cases. Nice features and nice prices. Both cases were designed to reduce the case footprint, and to provide a nice looking front face that would blend in nicely with an AV setup.
Well, Norco is at it again with the RPC-4220. This case is designed for the all-out WHS enthusiast who would like to stuff as many drives into a case as possible. Is (20) 3-1/2 hot-swap bays enough? I do *believe* a WHS can handle a few more, but it would take a while for me to get 20 drives, let alone the supposed 32 drive limit of a WHS.
And for the real techies out there, there is room in the top for a 2-1/2 drive, also. Perfect for a SSD system drive!
I will be receiving one of these puppies in the very near future, at which time I will put it through the paces for a review. With my current WHS having only 3 drives at the moment, I will probably have a major feeling of inadequacy with that many empty bays…
And yes, I am back! One daughter is married. I might have even had a tear or so. And yes, my head did hurt (a little) the next day. And one kid back from college. And my computer room is now a bedroom again. Which means my “stuff” is now relegated to the far corners of the house. Bummer…

I am supposed to be getting the case tomorrow. I’m pretty sure I am going to need a SFF-8087 cable, so that will take a bit more time, as I plan on moving my WHS into this case to see how it all works together. Also, it would appear to have some Delta screamers in there and I have a feeling that I may not be able to slow them down enough to make the noise level bearable.
As a business server chassis, not a biggie. But for home use, I may just pick up some quiet, cheap masscools from Newegg. $1.29 in lots of 10 and free shipping should do the trick!

how are the masscools working out for you?
