Microsoft Releases Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Microsoft Office 2007

Today, Microsoft announced the release of Service Pack 2 for Office 2007.  This may not mean much to a WHS computer, except…

  • for those who have installed Office (or part of it) on their WHS
  • for anyone who owns Microsoft Office 2007, it is still a good thing to know about.

My computer is sitting here waiting to install 253.0 MB of important updates as well as 7 other optional updates, all for Office.

I wonder if they did any Beta testing on a WHS???

Enjoy!

About Jim Clark

Hello. I’m from the heartland of the U.S. Lots of corn and beans, although Iowa is a lot more than just farmland. It also has a few computer enthusiasts (no, not me!). I’ve been around PCs since I got my 1st PC XT aloooong time ago. WGS is one of the first sites I found centered around WHS. And the best. Every once in awhile, I do get away from the KB and enjoy time with and my wife and our 4 kids. And I do have a day job.

I just installed 2007 today actually. A weird coincidence that i browsed over to this site while it was installing. I have been loyal to 2003 because of the bloat of 2007…but this pack (any maybe other updates along the way) actually makes it worthwhile to upgrade IMHO. Thanks Jim!

I had IE8 on my WHS for a short time. I had some problems with it (darned if I can remember what they were atm) so I went back to IE7. Let me know how it works for you.

Outlook is def. faster with this update.

I, too, was surprised to see this last night, when I casually clicked the "check for updates" option in WHS — I don't do it that often, and I think I was just bored :-)

I guess we are now entering a slow WHS news period until CES 2010. Thats when we might get some identication as to what will be in v2 WHS.

Hi John. Get ready to eat those words on a slow WHS news period. :-) I'm writing up the Acer review right now, and well, who knows what else is coming….

Question is, will this break Advanced Admin again? Seemed to be the main problem when I had IE8 installed.

I run Outlook 2007 on my WHS and it syncs to Google using Google Sync- then to my Blackberry. I did the update to IE8 and the office update and all is working fine. I really haven't seen any issues or any real difference so far.

    Timing is everything. :)

0.4.3 AAC is working fine with the IE8 update.
