Update: TwonkyMedia Manager v1.1

PacketVideo have announced the release of TwonkyMedia Manager v1.1, the first update to their media management and DLNA-compliant server software. Twonky Media Manager is a more fully-featured application than the standalone TwonkyMedia Server add-in that ships with the HP MediaSmart Server and FSC SCALEO Home Server, providing (as you’d guess from the name) media management features as well as the included media serving software.

Whilst it’s an application rather than an add-in, TwonkyMedia Manager can be installed directly on your home server and controlled via a remote desktop connection, rather than via the Windows Home Server Console.

The new release adds the following new features:

  • Online radio streaming support for 70 new stations
  • Support for online media services from Photobucket, SHOUTcast, Picasa Web
  • Support for YouTube video playback on the Sony PlayStation 3
  • New “QuickStart” launch 25x faster than before
  • New SmartSort feature enables music files to be automatically associated with their album of origin, sorted in the order they appear on the actual album.
  • Improved support for FLAC, AAC and additional file formats
  • New version of TwonkyMedia Server
  • Ability to sort music files by genre/ album and composer; and photo/video files by personal rating, keywords and album
  • Expanded language support for eight languages, now including Japanese and Russian

TwonkyMedia Manager is available now at $39.99 for a 3 PC license.
